In the domed chamber . . .
Alina: Everything’s a dead end.
Circe: Before I saved our thief, I saw a crack behind the goo.
DM: Gelatinous Cube.
Tess: Cube. Whatever.
Alina: Can we fight this thing?
Circe: We should wait and hope it doesn’t settle back in that corner.
Alina: At least it can’t open doors.
Circe: We can check it periodically.
Starlight: I have an idea.
Alina: Shoot more arrows?
Starlight: No. Look what I have.
After discussing their plan, the three headed back to the room of the Gelatinous Cube.
The whole save versus paralyzation had them scared and attacking the thing was not an option to them. That’s too bad, since inside of the cube was the the following:
- 20 gold pieces
- a dagger with a carbuncle worth 120 gold pieces
- an unlabeled sealed bottle (Potion of Healing)
Also inside the cube were three skulls from the former minotaur tomb guardians of this chamber (maybe they had the right idea in not trying to take out the gelatinous cube in combat, after all).
Alina cautiously opened the door and made her way to the wall opposite the crack. Armed with some of the cooked rat meat that the halfling had supplied her with, she tossed some towards the ooze. The giant cube slid over the bones seeking out more organic material, while Alina slipped around to join the others.
With the path clear and the cube busy, the three of them quietly moved to the small crack in the wall.
Circe: You, then the halfling and I’ll follow up the rear.
