Sue: Half-wit? Really?
passed the letters around the table. They all discussed the situation and filled in the gaps for each other. I did not have to explain anything. It all fit.
I wrote a total of five letters. They had discovered three of them. Here is the first one.
I am almost done researching in the crypt below the Temple. Perhaps I could get some of the locals to explore the nearby tower. There are still three missing books that hold the information to complete the ritual.
Moonlight grows suspicious, so I need him dealt with as soon as possible.
The second one.
Moonlight’s daughter and some half-wit recently arrived in Eastbrook. I sent them to investigate the ruined tower. Hopefully the three missing books will be there.
Leave them be for now.
The third one.
Do not waste my time with your incompetent goblins! Find the Eye of the Wyvern and bring it back to me!
I sent the two half-wits and one of the Clerics from the Temple to Bullhead Canyon. Alexus’ tomb should hold one of the books. As soon as it is recovered, I will be leaving Eastbrook. Orcus forbid I spend another moment in these robes of Pelor.
Attached you will find a map to the Eye of the Wyvern.
Stealing from the Collection Plate
All letters were signed with the seal of the Patriach.
Sue: What did you spill on the letters? Is that wax?
DM: From a white candle.
When they finally arrived at Eastbrook, Tilith was waiting for Circe with news.
Tilith: The Patriarch is gone and 500 gold is missing from our coffers.
Sue: The gold he gave us? We already paid the carpenters. Our house is already built. We can’t ask them for it back.
Tilith: There was also a corpse candle in his study.
Tess: I knew there was a reason you mentioned his candle.
They shared the letters they had discovered to Tilith.
Tilith: Meet me at the Temple when the Winter Wolf closes. I have something to show you.
Circe: Will do.
Alina: I could use a drink.
